Troop 32 2016 Calendar Planning Meeting

We will be having an annual planning meeting on Saturday, March 5th at Wilson Memorial Church to nail down the boys activities for the coming year.  This meeting is for all Scouts, Parents and Adult Leaders, so please plan to attend and bring ideas for activities and meetings.  Also please bring your family calendar.  We will start at 9:00 am, so please arrive by 8:45 if possible.  The meeting should be concluded by 12:00, so you'll only be giving your morning to the Troop.

For our Troop to have an exciting and successful program year, it is vital that each person bring at least one outing idea (ex: campout in Gettysburg) and one Scouting area of interest (ex: Railroading) they want to explore this year. Our goal will be for the boys to schedule at least 1 weekend activity per month for January to June as well as come up with a monthly theme to build their meetings on.

Scouts - In order to come up with a good, basic plan, please note the following:

1.       Monthly Program Themes - Prior to the meeting, review your Scout handbook and advancement needs. You should come to the meeting with at least three areas of interest (ex: aquatics, hiking, backpacking) that you want the Troops to focus on in the next year. As a Troop you will determine what we focus on for the next 12 months. The Troop Program Planning Guide (Three Volumes in one document) provide a set of suggested themes , or “features”, along with detailed planning ideas for each:

2.       Outings - Prior to our meeting, a scout proposing an idea should research it, gather essential information and bring it to the meeting on this Form: Outing Research Form (MSWord, PDF)

Parents/Leaders Note - One key to our Troop's success is the support of the Boy's program by adults. While the Troop is boy led, adults need to be available to mentor them. To that end, please complete the Troop Resource Survey and bring it with you on the 5th. Also, we will be asking each parent and adult leader to commit to coordinating at least one Troop outing over the course of the year. Don't worry, the boys will be handling the details, your role will be to supervise and mentor!
